SAVE Transitions and Wellness-Interim Program
A Pathway to Farming and Wellness for Veterans
The Servicemember Agriculture Vocation Education Farm training program offers opportunities for healing. Transitions and wellness are an integral part of the mission. Behavioral health therapy, horticultural therapy, and other holistic healing modalities are integrated into the training program along with vocational rehabilitation, mentor and volunteer opportunities, community integration, spiritual guidance and peer-to-peer support offered to students, interns, employees, families, and internship partners.
The purpose for Transitions and Wellness as part of the SAVE program is to facilitate healing from stress, physical injuries, and issues that might be influencing the mind, body, and soul. Paying attention to your needs and healing can have a huge positive impact on your relationships with yourself and others. Opportunities for wellness and healing were developed with Post Traumatic Growth in mind to include: 1) Personal Strength, 2) Appreciation of life, 3) Relationships with Others, 4) Spirituality and 5) New Possibilities with the expectation that one hour a week at a minimum is dedicated to self-care for all attending the SAVE programs. Psychotherapy might not be necessary and is not mandatory, but is available to attending the SAVE program as a student, family member, intern, internship partner or employee.
SAVE in collaboration with Konza Prairie Community Health and Dental Center offers services to treat your mind and body (and even teeth). Students, interns, and employees will be able to collaborate with a licensed psychologist to assess and develop a comprehensive individualized treatment plan utilizing gold standard and evidence-based therapies. All psychotherapy sessions are free of charge for SAVE students, interns, and employees. Medical and dental are provided utilizing your insurance. If you do not have insurance, an income-based sliding scale can be arranged.
